Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport, Kolkata is the chief air hub of North-East India. The airport is located in kolkata in the state of West Bengal in the Dum Dum area. Formerly, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport was known as Dum Dum Airport. It was later christened after the name of the famous Bengali patriot Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose. Located at a 17km distance from the city centre it is one of the busiest airports in India.
Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport has three terminals. The oldest is the international terminal, a terminal for domestic carriers and a terminal for cargo flights. There are two parallel runways in the airport. The longer one IR/19L is employed for landings and take-offs and the other serves as taxiway.
